SEVERAL CITIES IN BiH WITHOUT ORGANIZED FIREWORKS ON NEW YEAR'S EVE

The city of Sarajevo will not organize fireworks on New Year's Eve, says Benjamina Karić, the Mayor. Mayor Karić said that Sarajevo joined a large number of European cities that made the same decision, including Rome, Prague, Zagreb, Helsinki, Warsaw, and others. The money that was planned for fireworks will be donated to organizations for animal rights and protection. In addition to the capital Sarajevo, other Bosnian cities like Bihać, Bosanska Krupa, Prijedor, and Tuzla joined this initiative. We hope that more cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina recognize the importance of this problem and join this growing list. The effects of using pyrotechnics don’t only negatively affect animals, on the contrary, our entire ecosystem suffers, as well as all sensitive categories of population. By not using firecrackers and fireworks, we are not only saving animals and the environment but also all those for whom these days are a nightmare.

In neighboring Croatia, on New Year's Eve, as many as 44 Croatian cities and municipalities, including Zagreb, will not have fireworks but will replace them with ecological and attractive light sensations, to protect animals and the environment from negative consequences. Given that Croatia has 428 municipalities and 127 cities, joining cities and municipalities to this idea is slow but moving. We are asking everyone to enter this year more quietly than the previous ones, for all those whose voices are not heard.
